First Inning
"Today's customer already has high expectations about a product's features and benefits. The intangibles they seek that will allow companies to prosper are:
- How well the employee gives meaning advice about the product or the reason for the call and,
- The amount of interaction with the customer service representative that yields new learning or information.
Work environments need employees coached to see excellence as the norm. To reach this goal, the following steps need to be taken:
- Recruit talented individuals with the majority of the skills and knowledge the job requires,
- Have managers who embrace leadership and,
- Provide simulation education that creates properly prepared employees who can problem solve.
Anybody can lead or manage when times are good and companies are profitable. The true leaders come forth when the times are tough."
